With news of a small fire behind the scenes at the Centre Court, Wimbledon 2015 looks to not only be figuratively but literally hotting up as we edge ever closer to the final stages. Here we’ll take a look at what’s gone on so far in the tournament, and make some predictions as to who might be kissing the Centre Court turf this time round.

The Womens’ Singles tournament has experienced some surprises, with no. 3 seed Simona Halep knocked out in the 1st round by no. 106 seed Jana Cepelova, and British hopeful Laura Robson knocked out in straight sets by no. 101 seed Evgeniya Rodina. The infamous Williams sisters have returned to form this tournament, with both making appearances in the third round; Serena Williams is set to face off against no. 59 seed Heather Watson, and Venus will play the Serbian Aleksandra Krunic.

The Mens’ Singles were not so prone to intrigue, however, as no. 4 seed Stan Wrawinka ably fought his way through Joao Sousa and Victor Estrella Burgos to the 3rd round, where he meets no. 42 seed Fernando Verdasco. Andy Murray continued his straight-set streak in beating Robin Haase and guaranteeing himself a place in the 3rd round. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, following a nailbiting tournament last year, is back in his element, having forged himself a solid spot in round 3 following a win against Albert Ramos -Vinolas.

So what can we expect to see in the final stages of this tournament? One bookie predicts, at odds of 9/2, a Federer/Djokovic Mens’ Singles final, with Djokovic at 5/4 as outright winner and Andy Murray sneaking in at 11/5. As far as Womens’ Singles go, Serena is favourite to win at 13/8, while Venus is flagged at an unlikely 40/1. Jana Cepelova is pegged at 250/1, odds that might pay well if she continues her upstart streak in Round 2.
